In this Revit Tutorial I am going to introduce you to both Model Lines and Model Text. To demonstrate the use of the these tools, I am going to create some simple court markings for a Sports Hall and also put some 3D text onto it’s wall.

2019-09-23 · Revit beginners will often inadvertently delete important elements like levels and grids. That’s often a problem with former AutoCAD users, where deleting a line is not that big of a deal. First, make sure to understand the “Hide In View” tool. This will make an element invisible in a view, but will still preserve it in the model.

When working full steam for a deadline, it is easy to overlook some of the warnings Revit produces. If left unchecked for too long, you can amass 700, 800 or even 1000 warnings—which can make your model slow and cumbersome, because it keeps looking to see if the “problems” have been fixed. For a long time, splines in Revit have been a major bugbear. Splines can be created using either the Model lines (Architecture > Model > Model lines) or Detail lines (Annotate > Detail > Detail Lines) command. However, there are major limitations when it comes to editing splines. Join Paul F. I think they should have been detail lines, anyway, since they are just representing the path of the ramp in plan view.

First, try to create Model line using that linestyle. Then after that, select the model line -> right click -> select Override Graphics in View -> By Element (See image below).

Where possible, replace model lines with detail lines. 7. Use room separation lines. Room separation lines help divide rooms where no other bounding object is present. However, be careful. When these lines begin to overlap with other bounding objects, such as walls and columns, they will cause errors.

Space and Room boundary lines are examples of Model lines that you should expect to see in your Revit project. All other Model lines should be carefully reviewed to ensure they follow office protocol for model line usage. 2009-05-08 · Model Line must Reside in Sketch Plane.

In fact I would go as far as to say that you might as well just jump back into 2D CAD if you prefer drawing with lines, arcs and circles in Revit. The smarter, modern way of technical detailing in Revit is to use objects. So the question is, how can we tag a line in Revit? THIN LINES / Displays all lines on the screen as a single width, regardless of zoom level. VG or VV VISIBILITY/GRAPHICS / Controls the visibility and graphic display of model elements, datum elements, and viewspecific elements for each view in a project. When viewing a Revit model on a computer screen, the thickness of elements is dynamic. That means elements will appear to be thicker when you are zoomed in and thiner when you are zoomed out. That is the opposite of a printed document, where the thickness never changes. This code and the idea to create these kind of model lines for debugging purposes is actually demonstrated by the Revit SDK sample Openings, in its module BoundingBox.cs, which implements the two methods NewSketchPlanePassLine () and NewModelLine (), upon which the methods defined above are based. Some things to note about this code: The actual line work is somewhat tricky. One cannot use Revit’s Model Lines for this purpose because each Model Line needs to be associated with a Sketch Plane. With a Complex Toposurface, this approach can be extremely convoluted.
